According to Cote de Pablo, leaving the NCIS Series was a tough decision but after the reception she got it made a bit easier. Many fans were shocked when the former NCIS leading lady decided to exit one of the most popular series but she quickly realized after her departure there was a positive sign of hope in the most negative situation.
As per SHOWBIZ CHEATSHEET, the CBS network tried very hard to keep Cote de Pablo on the show. Even they tried bumping up her salary too.
According to former CBS President Les Moonves said to TV Line, “I really want to clarify : We offered Cote de Pabloa lot of money and then we offered her even more money, we really didn’t want to lose her, we love her. We think she’s terrific. We obviously were in discussions… and ultimately she decided she didn’t want to do the show. It was her decision. We don’t like losing anybody. We did everything humanly possible and exhausted every opportunity, and she just decided she didn’t want to do the show.”
As previously stated Cote de Pablo did not provide a full explanation for her departure from NCIS and chose to keep this matter strictly private.

1) In an interview with TV Guide, actress Cote de Pablo said, “As far as my decision to leave NCIS, that’s a personal thing, and I’d rather leave it at that. The idea of leaving was not something I toyed around with for a long time. It was an overwhelmingly hard thing at times terrifying.”
2) She also said, “Leaving NCIS was not planned, so there is no plan. If I were panicking now, it would defeat the purpose. I need to get really excited about something, because for eight years I was really excited about this character. I don’t want to start anything unless it’s like that.”
3) She also talks about the fan support for her character Ziva. She quoted, “I was incredibly moved by the blind support people had without ever getting reasons as to why I left. People trusted that what I was doing was what I needed to do, and that’s unconditional love from people who don’t even know me. That’s been the most beautiful thing out of this process.”
4) She is happy that she left the show in her condition. According to Cote de Pablo, “Did I want to leave under those circumstances? That’s another story but I’m not of the belief that you just take off and leave fans hanging. A lot of people don’t get the privilege of going back to a set and being able to say goodbye to people. I left under my terms, and that was wonderful.”
5) In Season 11, Episode 2 of NCIS, we bid farewell to the character Ziva David, but the episode also hinted at the possibility of her making a return to the series. In her last quote she said, “The greatest thing about this last episode is that Ziva doesn’t die. As long as a character doesn’t die, the character can always come back. Not that it would actually matter, because we bring back characters from the dead all the time on NCIS !”
