Steve Coogan’ latest British dramedy, The Penguin Lessons, has officially announced its release date alongside an exciting first-look trailer.

Inspired by Tom Michell’s acclaimed book, the forthcoming film features Steve Coogan as a jaded Englishman who embarks on a new job in Argentina during a tumultuous time in the nation. His life takes an unexpected turn when he saves a penguin from a beach tainted by oil, leading to a profound transformation.

A fresh trailer for the film has officially announced its release date in UK cinemas, set for April 18, 2025.

In the trailer, Coogan’s character Tom confesses that he rescued the penguin in an attempt to win over a woman he was attracted to. “Now he believes we’re buddies,” he continues, “but that’s not the case.”

It quickly becomes evident that they possess a profound connection, ultimately prompting Tom to experience both a personal and political transformation.

The cast also features Jonathan Pryce, Vivian El Jaber, Björn Gustafsson, Alfonsina Carrocio, and David Herrero.

Steve Coogan has recently landed a role in Channel 4’s highly anticipated drama, Brian and Margaret. In this production, he will portray journalist Brian Walden during a pivotal TV interview with Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
