Scream VI is a 2023 American slasher film helmed by directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, with a screenplay crafted by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. This film serves as a sequel to Scream (2022) and marks the sixth chapter in the Scream film series. Scream VI achieved a Worldwide Gross of $167 million, making it the first film in the franchise to surpass $100 million at the domestic US Box Office since Scream 2 (1997).
The storyline revolves around a new Ghostface killer who starts targeting the survivors of the Woodsboro murders in New York City. The announcement of a sixth Scream film came just weeks following the successful release of Scream (2022).
Filming occurred in Montreal, Canada, from June until late August 2022. Brian Tyler, who composed the score for the fifth film, returned to create and conduct the music, with Sven Faulconer collaborating with Tyler as a co-composer.
Scream VI had it’s premiere at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater in Manhattan on March 6, 2023, and was released in theaters across the United States on March 10 by Paramount Pictures. The film garnered generally favorable reviews from critics, who lauded the new setting for the franchise, the heightened violence, and the cast’s performances.
