Sarah Catherine Hook Shines In Cruel Intentions Trailer

A new decade brings familiar ambitions. The highly anticipated trailer for the Cruel Intentions Remake was released on last Thursday, teasing viewers with the same captivating intrigue and youthful drama that defined the original, now presented in an exciting episodic format. The highly anticipated Amazon Prime Video series features Sarah Catherine Hook in the role of Caroline, the cunning step-sister to Zac Burgess’ charming yet villainous character, Lucien.

The plot revolves around a dark wager filled with treachery, seduction, and, inevitably, a touch of cruelty. The trailer showcases a contemporary reinterpretation of a beloved cult classic.

The original film, released in 1999, featured the real-life duo of Reese Witherspoon as the naive headmaster’s daughter and Ryan Philippe as the rebellious heartthrob determined to win her over. The impressive cast also boasted talents like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair.

The original story centered around a group of elite prep-school teenagers, but the new film cleverly shifts the narrative to the contemporary world of Greek life on campus.

In this updated version, Savanah Lee Smith takes on the role of Annie, who finds herself entangled in a twisted bet between Caroline and Lucien. Caroline, eager to have Annie—daughter of the U.S. vice president—join her sorority, recruits Lucien to orchestrate the recruitment in his uniquely seductive style.

The cast of the series features some familiar faces. Sean Patrick Thomas, known for his role as the young music teacher Ronald Clifford in the original film, will make a special appearance in the reboot as a professor who appears to be lured into an affair with a student.

Prime’s interpretation is, in fact, a remake of a remake. The original film from 1999 served as a contemporary adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ classic 1782 novel, Dangerous Liaisons.

The highly anticipated premiere episode of Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Catherine Hook, will be available on Amazon Prime Video starting November 21. Following that, the remaining seven episodes will be released weekly, ensuring you have something to look forward to each week on the streaming platform.
