Peacock has secured the two main roles for its upcoming limited series, The Good Daughter. Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy are set to star in this gripping drama, adapted from a novel by Karin Slaughter, who is not only the author but also the writer for each episode of the series. Additionally, Byrne will take on the role of executive producer, ensuring her creative vision is integral to the project.
The Good Daughter received a direct-to-series order from Peacock in March, with Jessica Biel initially set to star. However, Biel exited the project in September, and now Fahy will step into the role that Biel was originally cast for.
Peacock’s Upcoming Series The Good Daughter
The narrative follows the journey of two sisters, Charlotte (Fahy) and Samantha (Byrne) Quinn, who have dedicated the past 28 years to reconstructing their lives, shattered by a traumatic night of violence. When a new assault disrupts the quiet town of Pikeville, Charlotte finds herself as the first witness at the scene.
As a lawyer, much like her father, she must face her inner struggles while the case unfolds with unexpected twists. Both sisters grapple with the haunting question of whether the sacrifices made in the name of being the perfect daughter were truly worthwhile.
Rose Byrne shares the screen with Seth Rogen in the Apple TV+ series Platonic and has also been the driving force behind the streamer’s hit show Physical for three successful seasons. Meanwhile, Meghann Fahy recently wrapped up her role in The Perfect Couple on Netflix and boasts an impressive resume that includes appearances in season two of The White Lotus and The Bold Type.
The Good Daughter is being brought to life by an impressive team, including Slaughter (known for Will Trent and Pieces of Her) as executive producer alongside Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, and Casey Haver from Made Up Stories.
The project will be directed by the talented Steph Green, recognized for her work on The Americans, with Byrne also contributing. The studio backing this exciting venture is Fifth Season.
Rose Byrne is represented by CAA and RGM Artists, while Meghann Fahy has the backing of WME, Anonymous Content, Shelter PR, and Sloane Offer. Slaughter is supported by Victoria Sanders and Associates, along with Jeffrey Frankel from McKuin Frankel and WME.
