The Conjuring – Last Rites Overtakes Thunderbolts At Global Box Office

The Box Office success of Patrick Wilson’ The Conjuring – Last Rites continues to soar, recently achieving a remarkable milestone that seemed impossible just a few years back. As the fourth installment in the Conjuring series and the ninth film in the broader Conjuring Universe, The Conjuring – Last Rites features Ed and Lorraine Warren confronting a demon that has haunted them for over two decades.

Due to the interconnectedness of the universe and the powerful brand recognition, nearly every installment in the Conjuring Universe has achieved significant profitability. Although the review ratings for The Conjuring – Last Rites suggest that viewers were let down by what was expected to be the final chapter, this has not prevented it from becoming the top-grossing film in the franchise.

The Box Office figures continue to astonish with each passing weekend since it’s debut. In merely 3 weeks following it’s broad release, The Conjuring – Last Rites has even surpassed the most immensely popular and lucrative movie franchise in history, a remarkable achievement that the Conjuring franchise has unexpectedly achieved once again.

The Conjuring – Last Rites Has Just Surpassed Thunderbolts At The Global Box Office

The Conjuring – Last Rites has just surpassed the impressive $400 million milestone globally, placing it ahead of the highly regarded Marvel Cinematic Universe’s antihero film, Thunderbolts*, in the 2025 Box Office rankings. Throughout its entire theatrical release, Thunderbolts* accumulated a total of $382.4 million, a figure that Last Rites exceeded on it’s 17th day in cinemas.

This is the second occasion where a film from the Conjuring Universe has surpassed the Box Office earnings of a Marvel Cinematic Universe film released in the same year. The initial occurrence took place in 2023, when The Nun II earned $269.6 million, outpacing the significant disappointment The Marvels, which made $206.1 million.

Currently, The Conjuring – Last Rites appears to have a strong opportunity to pursue another Marvel Cinematic Universe film set for release in 2025. Captain America – Brave New World earned a total of $415.1 million at the Box Office, a figure that Last Rites is expected to surpass within the next week or two.

While it may be overly ambitious to believe it could reach the $519.8 million mark set by the third Marvel Cinematic Universe film of 2025, The Fantastic Four – First Steps, the achievements of this horror powerhouse are undeniably impressive. During the peak of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seemed impossible for a horror film to rival one of the major MCU hits at the Box Office.

However, with the growing popularity of horror in Hollywood and the MCU’s gradual decline, this scenario could soon be a regular occurrence. The Conjuring – Last Rites is on track to achieve one of the highest Box Office totals for a horror film in history, suggesting that the franchise may still have room to grow.
