During their panel at New York Comic Con, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo shared exciting details about the much-anticipated finale of NCIS – Tony & Ziva, providing fans with a glimpse of what lies ahead for this cherished pair. The NCIS panel at Comic Con featured stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, who shared insights on what fans can look forward to in the upcoming finale of NCIS – Tony & Ziva.
The actors took the stage in front of a full house at New York Comic Con, revealing exclusive behind-the-scenes insights and teasing the concluding episode of their Paramount+ spinoff. When the panel’s host inquired if they could disclose any details about the finale, Weatherly suggested there might be something familiar for long-time fans.
According to Michael Weatherly, “You know, Dennis Smith, who has directed more episodes of the original NCIS and NCIS – Los Angeles than any other director, and I really hit it off while working together. Then, when Cote joined the show, it just added to the incredible talent we had on board. I believe you will notice a stronger connection to the original series, especially with Dennis at the helm. He has truly delved deeper than ever before, exploring new dimensions.”
Until last month, it had been 12 years since fans last witnessed Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo and Ziva David sharing the screen. This dynamic duo captivated audiences from 2005 to 2013, as viewers eagerly anticipated a romantic plotline due to their undeniable chemistry.
The departure of Cote de Pablo’s Ziva in 2013, followed by the shocking presumption of her character’s death, left fans in disbelief. Two years later, it was disclosed that Ziva had welcomed Tony’s daughter, Tali. De Pablo made a brief guest appearance in 2019, revealing that Ziva had staged her own death, leaving fans to speculate that she would eventually reunite with Tony and Tali off-screen.
NCIS – Tony & Ziva debuted on Paramount+ on September 4, reuniting the beloved duo with a fresh twist. They are no longer a couple. Instead, they are co-parenting their daughter Tali in Paris. Tony has established his own security company, while Ziva manages an international school.
When Tony’s job jeopardizes their family’s safety, they embark on a thrilling escape across Europe. Ultimately, they rekindle their romance and begin planning their wedding. At the New York Comic Con panel, fans were treated to a screening of the latest episode, which was released earlier that day on October 9.
Michael Weatherly elaborated on the distinctions between the spinoff and the original series, stating, “In a procedural, we have a limited timeframe to solve the crime. Therefore, we aimed to delve into the emotions, which are central to this show. We sought to elevate the stakes for the characters. Additionally, we wanted to incorporate more action, which I believe is quite impressive.”
Cote de Pablo shared insights about the new supporting characters, such as Claudette Caron, portrayed by Amita Suman, and Boris, played by Maximilian Osinski.
According to Cote de Pablo, “We encountered them, we found them likable, and eventually, we fell in love with them. Gradually, you begin to witness this natural development unfold. As an actor, you never force anything. You must accept what you possess. Naturally, you have talent, beauty, and all these amazing qualities. You’re putting in the effort. Yet, as time passes, you start to share moments of laughter, and before you realize it, you become somewhat of a family.”
The conclusion of NCIS – Tony & Ziva is set to premiere on Thursday, October 23, and fans are eagerly inquiring if a second season will be on the horizon. In a conversation with media channels earlier this fall, Cote de Pablo shared her thoughts on the experience of reprising her role.
As per Cote de Pablo, “I believe we would be fortunate to portray these characters for—let me put it this way. Season 1 felt like a dream. Revisiting these characters was an absolute blast. The future is uncertain, but one thing is clear, we had to make this happen. Michael and I felt a strong obligation to our fans. Therefore, we are genuinely excited that this opportunity came to fruition. We manifested it. We’re just thankful for the opportunity we had, and whatever comes next is beyond us. If we were given the chance to do it again, we would be overjoyed.”
