NCIS Tony & Ziva Episode 3 – Cover Story features Tony and Ziva as a married couple. Tony and Ziva begin the concluding episode of the three-part premiere by surveying Reigning Fire, but their investigation is suddenly disrupted by a massive explosion in one of their facilities where military drones are assembled.
They manage a swift getaway from the site, but not before their faces are captured on camera. Later, we witness the leader of Reigning Fire presenting the footage to Henry and insisting that he apprehend them, convinced that they are responsible for the explosion.
On the run and unable to access their usual safehouse, Tony and Ziva find shelter in a secluded, luxurious vacation cabin owned by Tony’s girlfriend, Nicole (Sophie Mausel). This is also the first time Ziva has learned about this girlfriend.
Another twist unfolds when Nicole unexpectedly returns home with her husband, Max (Henning Baum). No, Tony was not aware of this. It turns out he had genuinely envisioned a future with her, but what follows completely shatters their relationship.
To avoid raising suspicions about the affair, Tony and Ziva pose as husband and wife, and the tension escalates when they realize Max is in law enforcement. Cue our next delightful flashback – Tony and Ziva embark on a date. They are attempting to gradually rekindle their relationship, carefully discovering a rhythm, yet their undeniable chemistry draws them together so irresistibly that they ultimately end up having physical relation.
Meanwhile, as Tony and Ziva enjoy their domestic bliss and reflect on their intimate encounters, Boris, Fruzsi, and Claudette find themselves in yet another heated argument.
Claudette (Amita Suman) persistently tries to persuade them to postpone their wedding, but they are determined not to forfeit such a significant milestone. She discloses that it is her girlfriend’s birthday, and she cannot celebrate it with her, reminding them that they are not the only ones making sacrifices.
Back at the cabin, Max discloses that he is aware of Tony’s affair with his wife — oddly, he seems more upset that they didn’t include him. However, when Max receives a fugitive alert featuring their faces, the mood shifts dramatically, leading to a brawl.
Fortunately, Claudette has just succeeded in erasing the couple’s digital ID tags, preventing them from being identified by cameras, allowing them to imprison the other couple and escape. As Tony reflects on his mistake of trying to settle down with the wrong partner, Ziva reassures him that it’s perfectly fine to seek happiness, echoing her therapist’s advice.
The previously tense atmosphere lightens as they devise a strategy to draw Martine out, announcing that Boris and Fruzsi’s wedding will proceed as planned. It’s evident that we are nearing the festive opening scenes, yet the reason behind Ziva wearing the white dress instead of Fruzsi remains a mystery in NCIS Tony & Ziva Episode 3.
