Meg 2 – The Trench is a 2023 science fiction action film directed by Ben Wheatley, serving as a sequel to The Meg (2018). This film is inspired by the 1999 novel The Trench by Steve Alten. Despite receiving unfavorable reviews, Meg 2 – The Trench achieved International Box Office success, amassing $397.8 million globally.

Similar to it’s predecessor, the story revolves around a group of scientists who must evade and outmaneuver the megalodons when a sinister mining operation jeopardizes their mission, leading to a perilous fight for survival. The announcement for the sequel’s development came in October 2018, following the first film’s Box Office triumph.

Principal photography commenced in February 2022 and continued until May, taking place in various Asian locations as well as at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Meg 2 – The Trench premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival on June 9, 2023, and was released in the United States on August 4 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
