The excitement of performing in front of an audience, nailing the comedic timing, and all those elements are exhilarating. I feel like I’m inside a big, goofy face, so if I can trip and still make someone laugh, I’m all in for it. I had collaborated with Chuck [Lorre] numerous times before, on shows like Dharma & Greg and Two and a Half Men. I was incredibly thrilled about this specific role and was absolutely over the moon when I actually secured it. It’s one thing to be excited about a role, but it’s an entirely different experience to hear the words, ‘it’s you.’ Then, just a week into rehearsals, on our final day, my manager called and asked, ‘hey kid, what happened?’ I replied, ‘what happened? Did someone die?’ He said, ‘no kid, it’s not working out.’ I asked, ‘what’s not?’ I was completely in the dark. Apparently, it just wasn’t meant to be, and that was the conclusion of that chapter.”
Jodi Lyn O’Keefe was released from The Big Bang Theory not due to any shortcomings in her performance. As she mentioned, the role had already been assigned to her, and they were actively rehearsing for the pilot episode.
