Why Henry’s Betrayal Affects Tony More Deeply Than The Current State of His Relationship With Ziva ?

NCIS – Tony & Ziva offers NCIS enthusiasts an exciting new chapter in the journeys of the former agents, highlighting the relationships they have developed with new friends after departing from the flagship series. The debut of NCIS – Tony & Ziva presents an entirely fresh ensemble of characters in addition to the beloved fan favorites.

The trailers for NCIS – Tony & Ziva have teased an abundance of romantic tension and playful exchanges, and thus far, the show has illustrated the complexity of their relationship. Flashbacks show that they attempted to allow themselves time to sort things out, but in the current timeline, Tony has started dating once more, with his girlfriend being introduced in NCIS – Tony & Ziva Episode 3.

Although moving on from Ziva must have been challenging for Tony, we haven’t witnessed that sorrow. Instead, the pain Tony experiences stems from a betrayal by someone he considered a trusted friend. Tony and Henry (James D’Arcy) forge a friendship when Tony relocates to Paris with Tali.

Four years later, Ziva joins them after living a life on the run. Henry is the first true friend Tony has had in many years, one who is not linked to his past with NCIS. Tony and Henry develop such a strong bond that Henry takes it upon himself to host Tali’s seventh birthday celebration and endorses Tony’s new security firm to Interpol.

This relationship is both personal and professional, which Tony nurtures independently as he builds a new life for himself and his daughter in Paris. Tony’s constant refusals to accept that Henry might be the one setting him and Ziva up for crimes are ignored.

In contrast, Ziva is skeptical about trusting Henry and warns Tony against contacting him. Ziva is convinced that the individual framing them must possess a deep understanding of their lives, Tony’s security firm, and should gain from their predicament.

Henry, the Interpol agent, is the one who issues the Red Notice against them. He is also privy to details about their relationship, their daughter, and their professional lives that remain unknown to others. Henry is shown to be overseeing his section of Interpol due to the absence of his direct supervisor.

He is the individual with the greatest access and the most to benefit from Tony and Ziva being set up. Ziva’s worries are validated when Tony attempts to meet Henry, only to find that Henry has multiple Interpol agents stationed along the street to capture him.

The revelation that Henry (James D’Arcy) would betray him leaves Tony heartbroken, but he successfully escapes thanks to Ziva’s timely warning. He is utterly heartbroken, to the point where he can’t even discuss the thought of Henry’s betrayal when Ziva attempts to talk to him face-to-face.

He goes as far as to avoid making eye contact with her, still grappling with the depth of the betrayal. Henry feels the sting of betrayal deeply due to the authentic friendship that existed, and because the treachery comes as a total surprise.

There Is Still An Opportunity For Another Villain In NCIS – Tony & Ziva

It is quite likely that Henry has not actually betrayed Tony in any way. After all, Tony has compared Henry to a Boy Scout. This suggests that Henry is the type of individual who adheres strictly to the rules.

Although Tony and Ziva are accustomed to assisting their former NCIS colleagues, or receiving assistance in return, they find themselves in a predicament with another government agency where they cannot depend on their NCIS friends for support on a global level. If Henry comes to their aid, he would be violating international laws.

Currently, Henry stands out as the most likely suspect; however, the evidence implicating him is far from robust. So far, we have not witnessed any concrete actions from Henry that would confirm he is orchestrating the scheme to frame Tony and Ziva, as well as targeting their new ally, Boris (Maximilian Osinski), the hacker.

It appears that the writers have intentionally positioned Henry as the initial red herring for viewers to pursue. With only three episodes aired in this ten-episode season, Henry stands out as the sole individual near Tony and Ziva, and it’s worth noting that Ziva has always had a dislike for him.

A forthcoming twist in NCIS – Tony & Ziva may uncover that Henry isn’t a villain; rather, he is merely fulfilling his duties as an Interpol agent, diligently pursuing the evidence at his disposal.
