Marisa Ramirez, known for her role as Maria Baez in both the main series and its spinoff, was a character that fans eagerly hoped to see back in Boston Blue Season 2. She is the romantic interest of Wahlberg’s character, Danny Reagan, and has made multiple guest appearances in the new series.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that viewers were intrigued by the possibility of her return, particularly since her character firmly stated that she had no intentions of relocating to Massachusetts. Wahlberg is observed congratulating Ramirez for her role in a Jordan Knight music video.
At the conclusion of his speech, he disclosed that the actress will indeed be featured in Boston Blue season 2. However, he did not specify whether she would remain a guest star or transition into a permanent cast member.
Shortly after the footage was released, TV Insider reached out to Boston Blue creators Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis to verify if Baez would be returning. Their responses were somewhat vague, yet it strongly suggested that Wahlberg’s remark was more than just a joke.
Sonnier playfully suggested, “That is indeed a real possibility, yes.” He went on to hint that there might be a chance Baez, who was quite hesitant to relocate during Boston Blue Season 1, could be cohabitating with Danny in Massachusetts. Margolis added, “Stranger things have occurred.”
The remarks from the creators strongly suggest that Ramirez’s involvement in Boston Blue Season 2 may be much more substantial than in the initial season. Baez’s departure from New York, especially after she firmly stated her disinterest in relocating, would represent a significant deviation from her character, making it hard to justify.
Nevertheless, given that Sonnier, Margolis, and Wahlberg have all been somewhat ambiguous, this major shift might occur nearer to the season’s conclusion.
