The Blue Bloods story carries on with an exciting new spin-off titled Boston Blue, which has just launched on CBS. Plot
Episode 1 of Boston Blue, named Faith and Family, tracks New York Police Department detective Danny Reagan as he travels to Boston following the critical injury of his son, Sean, in a building fire. While Sean remains in a coma, Danny collaborates with Boston PD detective Lena Silver to look into the questionable details surrounding the fire and a murder that was found at the location.
Story (Boston Blue Episode 1 – Faith And Family)
Sean, a patrol officer from Boston, along with his partner Jonah Silver, hurries into a blazing office building to rescue civilians. Inside, Sean finds the CEO of Image Stats Inc., Andrea Decker, has been shot and killed. Soon after, an explosion occurs, trapping Sean and leaving him severely injured and in a coma.
Upon arriving in Boston, Danny encounters Detective Lena Silver, who is Jonah’s older half-sister, at the scene of the crime. They discover that the fire was intentionally set to conceal the murder and possibly a robbery.
Lena and Danny locate Carlos Delgado, a private investigator who is looking into the crime scene, but they come to understand that he is not the killer. Delgado informs them that he overheard Decker having a heated argument with a disgruntled ex-employee, software engineer Marquis Rawlins.
Decker’s firm was being scrutinized for it’s facial recognition technology, which Rawlins attributes to his dismissal. Rawlins admits to the offense, yet Danny and Lena find his admission questionable and decide to dig deeper.
The detectives discover a connection to Caleb Bruce Jr., the son of Rawlins’ former girlfriend, whose father is currently incarcerated. Danny and Lena come to understand that Caleb murdered Decker due to misdirected rage, thinking that the software was to blame for his father’s imprisonment. Jonah apprehends Caleb as he attempts to escape, resulting in his arrest.
Danny’s sister, Erin, makes a trip to Boston to be there for him. She joins Danny for a family dinner at the Silver household, where they notice the remarkable similarities between their families in law enforcement.
The episode presents the notable Silver family from Boston, who have strong ties to law enforcement, similar to the Reagans. The family consists of District Attorney Mae Silver, Detective Superintendent Sarah Silver, Jonah, and their grandfather, Reverend Edwin Peters.
At the conclusion of the episode, Sean starts to regain consciousness from his coma. Danny announces his decision to remain in Boston to support his son, paving the way for his permanent transition to the Boston PD.
