The Reagan family, known for their legacy in law enforcement, celebrates Jamie Reagan’s graduation from the New York police academy, a ceremony led by his father, Commissioner Frank Reagan, and his grandfather, retired Commissioner Henry Reagan.

Meanwhile, Jamie’s brother, Danny Reagan, an Iraq war veteran and current NYPD detective, uses his ingenuity to track down a kidnapped girl named Teresa Campos, despite facing challenges due to his unorthodox methods that compromise the investigation.

In a twist, Jamie is approached by FBI agents to take on the role of a secret informant for the Blue Templar, a mysterious vigilante group within the NYPD, following in the footsteps of his late brother.
