Weapons Makes A Grand Entrance On The Box Office Chart With A New Milestone

Weapons has achieved a remarkable Box Office milestone, securing it’s place on an All-Time chart. This new horror film features Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, and Alden Ehrenreich, portraying the residents of a small town grappling with the shocking mass disappearance of 17 elementary school students.

The release of Weapons began on August 8, and it quickly turned into a remarkable success. Within it’s first four weeks, it achieved several milestones, recouping over six times it’s reported budget of $38 million and surpassing the global earnings of director Zach Cregger’s 2022 horror sensation, Barbarian, by five times.

Weapons wrap up it’s fifth weekend in theaters with a remarkable cumulative Global Box Office total of $252 million. This impressive figure, achieved before the conclusion of it’s first full month, includes $143 million from domestic theaters and $109 million from international markets.

Not only has Weapons become the 14th film of 2025 to surpass the $250 million mark globally, but this achievement also elevates it beyond the worldwide earnings of The Ring ($248.2 million) and The Blair Witch Project ($248.3 million). As a result, it now proudly sits at No. 25 on the list of the Top 25 highest-grossing horror films of All Time Worldwide.

The Implications For Weapons

While Weapons has secured it’s position on this prestigious chart, it must continue to ascend to uphold it’s reputation as one of the Top 25 horror films of all time by year’s end. This urgency arises from the fact that 2025’s The Conjuring – Last Rites, which debuted on September 5, is closely pursuing it.

The latest supernatural sequel, marking the ninth entry in the Conjuring Universe, has achieved the largest domestic opening of the year for the horror genre and it’s highest international debut to date. It is projected to conclude it’s opening weekend with an impressive global total of $177 million, positioning it to nearly match Weapons’ overall global earnings in just a few days.

Fortunately, to reach No. 24, Weapons only needs to generate an extra $752,406 to exceed the $253.2 million total of 2017’s Get Out. This goal seems achievable, despite a decline in audience retention due to the film’s availability on video on demand and Last Rites taking up space in theaters.

Furthermore, if the performance of 2025’s Weapons mirrors that of it’s fifth weekend, it stands to gain an extra $2.65 million in it’s sixth weekend. This would not only surpass Get Out but also bring it within striking distance of outpacing 2018’s Halloween ($255.4 million) and 2019’s Us ($255.6 million), potentially securing the 22nd spot on the all-time horror list.

Our Perspective On The Weapons Milestone

Although it may soon drop from it’s position among the 25 highest-grossing horror films of all time, Weapons remains a significant success by any standard. It’s Box Office achievement is particularly noteworthy for an original horror film, considering that only five other entries in the Top 25 are original works – Us, Get Out, Split, A Quiet Place, and Sinners.
